Newb question probably...

These letters are cut out of the green substrate and then there is an acrylic behind and the thing is backlit.

Is there a specific name for this process/application so I can do some homework and figure out how to do it and what equipment I might need?

Appreciate any advice!

not sure what does the box look like. This seems like a very complicated way to do this sign. acrylic and a router is all you would need though.

Gee... looks to me like a simple lit box with the letters reverse weeded from green vinyl, then applied smaller red letters on white acrylic. Let's not over think this...

Me thinks it's a routed painted green aluminum panel with a rectangle of white translucent plex/lexan taped or stud mounted to the back of the aluminum with translucent red vinyl lettering.

If you really want to know you have to take a face out and look at how it is constructed.

Looks like a rout-out show-through face. Likely aluminum with routed-out text then backed with acrylic with the red vinyl lettering. The red vinyl lettering is slightly smller leving the white acrylic border showing.

It could be layered acrylic, but that's not too common.
