Slick surface for cable guides

so I'm thinking of trying anti or non friction tape on the cable path of my SP540V to try and make the carriage cable travel more smoothly in the channel. I think it's also called PTFE tape. Just wondered if anyone else had tried this. I just recently replaced them but the cable and guides are making a very wavy shape as it travels.

If the cables are wavy you need to check your installation. I fought with mine to get just the right radius and eliminate waves. If I ever do it again I'm going to lay the cables flat under my cutting mat for a couple days.

If I remember correctly the guides have to be staggered where they rivet to the chassis but there is only one way they can install to the carriage?
I have experimented with different amounts of slack in the cable itself but right now it looks just like the illustration in the service Manuel.

Okay so I'm replying to my own comment here but I ordered new guides and tape called UHMW. Results to follow.
