In all honesty, I'm thankful for the impractical nature of architects (whoever heard of building a house atop a waterfall before FLR?).

I'm sure it's a royal PITA for building engineers, but it's absolutely vital for the human spirit.

That's all done with chalk, imaginary lines and some mirrors. Besides, it's all temporary work. Otherwise, that wall would fall on the girl in a few weeks.

very impractical. the rain would channel into the wall cavity
I'd give the engineers a bit more credit than that. I'd hazard a guess there's a large drain adequately situated in there somewhere. It's nothing more than a giant eaves trough.
