Ello :)
So... We have used SaiFLEXI for a while now, but from time to time we find it to be frustrating to be a custommer there. As a new started company, they are expensive to subscribe to. And only for use on one computer.

What alternatives are there?

We use Summa as a cutter.

I'm a big fan of Flexi and for most things it's great. The big thing is training. If you're comparing it to something that you know well, like Illustrator or Corel and you haven't been trained on Flexi, you'll get frustrated. If you're doing cut only, you can use the plug in from Summa with Corel or Illustrator, but if you're not familiar with those, you'll be just as frustrated.
You can check out the SAi Youtube channel for help or Sign up at their training site Adendo.com for some training sessions. Or if you'd like, you can message me for some training on Flexi.

Good Luck

we run just about every piece of equipment we own on flexi.
no import/export operation to send to a different printer/plotter

When flexi went subscription, I switched to Vinylmaster Pro. When Adobe went subscription i switched to Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher. I run an old Roland SP-300V with Versaworks print/cut unit. The only bummer with Vinylmaster is having two separate print and cut files versus Flexi having both in one eps file...but i can cut directly from Vinylmaster for cut only jobs. Both flexi and adobe pissed me off when they went subscription...i have thousands of dollars in software that i cant use anymore...ehh.

I've been a Flexi user for 25 years (started with the Vinyl Express LXi software that is essentially Flexi). Some of their updates cause major issues so I rarely do any updates. My biggest complaint with Flexi is their support. Whenever you have ANY kind of issue, they tell you to "update to the newest version to fix it". And it NEVER fixes the issue. Instead it creates about 10 more when you do the update. Mainly color profiling is ALWAYS screwed up after an update. I never had a problem with gradients until v19 came out. For years they kept telling me to do an update to fix the issue but it never did fix it. So I have been dealing with gradient problems for many years because I feel like updating will do nothing but cause more problems. Have also had problems with files occasionally that when adding a circular contour cut the circle will have an extra loop in the cut. Support even asked for the file I was using, sent it to them, said they found the issue and an update would fix it. Guess what, it did not. Instead had to spend 2 days re-profiling all my printers so the colors were accurate as they were before. So that is another issue I just deal with. But after having close to 100,000 files in vector format over the years, I'm kind of locked in. Plus I'm too old to want to learn new software at this point....unless there was a major advantage to it.
