Solvent manifold for JV33

Vinylman

I picked up a used Epson desktop printer with the DX5 print head uses water-based inks.

I am planning on flushing it out and converting to solvent ink use.

What steps should I follow?, and where can I purchase the replacement solvent manifold that goes on top of the print head?

Thanks in advance.

The manifolds are hard to find. I think one eBay seller has some though. Also the non-oem manifolds will fit but the little memory card bit will not mount right. I just stuck it on top and it works fine. You of course could also use your existing manifold as long as it's not clogged or damaged. Did back through a bit in the threads in the Mimaki section. I posted a couple of times on changing the head on one of these. Really is easy but you need to SLOWLY inject solvent flush into the new head. About 30cc or so per channel over about 30 seconds per channel.

What do you mean " but the little memory card bit will not mount right"?

where is it located?

Mimaki heads

The Mimaki heads have a chip on them that stores the head rank. The printer will look for this chip and set the head rank for you.
