SP300 wont recognize new ink

Hi,
My sp300 wont recognize a new yellow ink cartrige.
I reseated the new cartidge several times with no luck.
I put the chip from the old (Empty) cartridge on to the new cartridge and the printer recognized the ink.
The ink remaining indicator shows 1 "notch" left of ink, not indicating a full cartridge.
Will the ink last until the plastic tab alerts the printer that the cartridge is out of ink?
Should I switch the ink control to continious?

Cart sensor

When you put that cartridge in it should have reset it to show full. You may have a damaged cartridge sensor. You should be able to use that ink till the out of ink tab comes out but something else may be wrong
