Sp300V Yellow ink line problem

Hi, I'm having problems with my yellow ink line, Basically I draw the ink through to the damper which fills but then when I take the syringe out the ink goes back up the line and then the line has air in it.

What would be causing this problem?

Thanks

Hi Robert, I have put a new damper in, It had to be replaced due to magenta ink getting into it.

It did the same again the following day with a new damper fitted (magenta getting into the yellow line).

I have since replaced the wipers as I don't think they were working properly and it seems to be ok now.

Fingers crossed.

I have this same problem. I just keep some extra dampers on hand. Happens about 2-3 time a year. Mag contaminates the yellow, never happens to any of the others. Sometime I can suck the damper out and re-use it after a good cleaning.

I bet it is the caps. When they get bad the sponges swell up and touch the head, causing the ink to flow. If the yellow cart has less ink than the magenta it will siphon the ink back to the cartridge. The caps are supposed to be changed at least every 6 months.

I thought that too, but it has happened right after I have changed the caps before. 2-3 times a year, I just expect it.

yes and yes....I chalk it up to triange ink. never does it when I use OEM inks....but saving $200 a month on ink is worth a damper or two...

When you change the dampers, change the o-rings as well. If the o-ring is failing it will cause the ink to recede back to the cartridge. Also, make sure your cap top tubes are clean and the pump tubes as well. If they are partially clogged they can cause cross contamination. Other than that Mosh's advice to change the cap tops and dampers at the recommended times is right on.

I changed my cap tops about 4 weeks ago. I think it was the wipers not working properly leaving ink on the head and then going into the yellow line.

Changed the wipers last Thursday and touch wood it hasn't happened since.

I spoke to a Roland tech and he said to check the pump lines and cap tops lines for a blockage or a split letting air in.

Thanks
