SP540 Precise print area length measurement

Color Envy

New Member
I have a banner to print today, and I didnt receive my new roll of material on time...yay lol. I have to print a 4x8 and I have one piece of 8 ft banner left. I know the machine measures width, but is there a way to get it to measure length for a sheet?

If not, how much media will it not use at the end? I dont want my one shot at getting this done today to end with 2 inches left lol. I can slightly resize the image if I need to, but I am unsure of how to know exactly how much of that material is printable.

Thanks!

Do the old fashioned thing and take the roll off and unroll it on the floor or your table and measure it with a tape measure if you don't have a sticky tape on your desk.

Im not needing the actual length of the material. I am just needing the actual print area. Sorry if I didnt word that correctly.
The material is long enough, I just dont know how much of that the printer will actually use. I know at the end of a roll, it will stop with a few inches of material left and I dont know how much to account for so it doesnt stop printing just short of the end.

Tape some material to the end of the banner sheet. It will allow the pinch rollers to continue to hold the material and cover the sensor it needs to.
