Still trying to do a linear encoder test. Every time we press enter it says to remove sheet. There is no sheet to remove.
We have tried all sorts of things and it keeps saying remove sheet.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

When we try to access using the right, down, left + power(according to the service manual) it says Service Mode Protected.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

If I can't get it to do a linear encoder test I can't flip the encoder strip to see if that clears up the drifting.

Linear encoder test needs to be complete and valid before linear calibration. HELP!

New Service Mode Code: Down, Right, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left and then press the left, down and right buttons at the same time, hold and power on.

Not sure why it's saying remove sheet when there is not one in there. Try putting the pinch rollers down and hit enter after that.

We can access the service menu no problem.

Issue is when we try to do the linear encoder test. Keeps telling us to remove sheet. Wheels up, wheels down with paper or without it doesn't make a difference.

Worst part is according to the manual is says to start with the pinch wheels down. Nothing is working. We have to be able to do the linear encoder test so the strip can be flipped.

Gotta be something so darn simple, and we're missing it.

Forgot to add. When trying to do the linear encoder test it says to Remove Sheet. Then it immediately displays SET UP SHEET.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

encoder strip

Take a soft cloth and clean the encoder strip carefully and then try again. We had similar problems last week and when we cleaned it started working right.

I had a similar issue a week ago and it was all due the linear encoder strip. My prints drifted and i could'nt get a decent print.

Just make sure you dont have any dust, dirt or even vinyl covering the sensors on the front and rear platen first. This may cause the remove sheet error. (I kinda happened to stick some vinyl over my sensors)

I cleaned and flipped my strip, performed a linear calibration then an environment calibration.

All good since.

Here's what I learned yesterday:

It turns out to be a bad Paper Interrupt Sensor. The one on the rear platen. Sensor check in Service Mode nailed it. By some miracle of fiddling with the wiring it's working. (for how long is anybodies guess) Have to order a new one, install it and start the calibration process.

At least I have a clear cut path to get back on track.
