speed trails?

I was wondering how they make the effect of speed. Like you can see on this image after the wings of the aircrafts.

you can use a motion blur...

Use a slow shutter speed with a second-curtain flash.

duplicate layer, add motion blur at "correct" angle, erase unnecessary parts of blurred layer. that's the easy way, never seen it look nice though.

probably start out with duplicating the layer, cutting out the "moving" object, duplicating it again on top, then blurring the lower layer & removing unnecessary parts in front of the object.
