spot color problem

I have a file that will not save because illustrator says it contains more that 27 spot colors. I have never seen this before. Cant even flatten it becase I get the same error. Whats the fix in this situation? Thanks

Can't just convert them to CMYK? Or at least some of them?

I think that's what adobe recommends when people ask.

it shouldn't be a problem. I have printed samples and i had like a 100 or 200 spot color in the same file.

I googled it and it looks like illustrator does have a limit. You can only have 27 spot colors. Not sure how I have an eps file that has literally like a 100 or 200 spot colors. It is an RGB document. The spot colors do work because my rip software recognized them and i was able to print it! By the way I have roland spot colors. not sure if it matters.

I ended up putting it in PS and exporting back out to work around it.
