Stencil for paint numbers on Car Covers

I am responsible for making graphics for a small race team I am part owner of. We want to start putting our car numbers on our car covers so we know which covers go on which car (and because it looks neat). The car covers are cloth and are textured a little. I need to know how to go about putting 24" numbers on the hood of each cover. Which vinyl would you recommend for this? I am guessing that we should roll/brush the paint on instead of spraying. Are there any other thoughts, hints, or tips for doing this???
