"Stencil" Recommendations

Hello All,

So when it comes to stand-off lettering, our installer likes us to have stencils.
I currently use any cut vinyl I have, but it's not a clean cut for the backing of the vinyl.
The through-cut is fine so I know it isn't a blade issue. I just wanted to see what everyone else uses to create stencils.
Thanks!

We plot an ink stencil on cheap craft paper on our Graphtec7000-130 (or sharpie for large signs) w/ crosshairs at the centers of each stand-off drill path. Occasionally, we will use matching colored vinyl as a stencil -- especially for small lettering so it's still readable in case a letter falls off over time -- but that's for flush-mounted graphics.
We also now have a laser cutter, so we're considering cardboard stencils for flush-mounted stencils (very handy to be able to "rest" a letter onto the cardboard and reusable. The paper stencils are great for us, though for outdoor (read: windy) applications, I'd recommend Tyvek paper, but that's $$$)
