street banner question

I have always thought that a street banner would have to have wind slits or be a mess banner because of the wind. I have a company that I have been doing business with for years, it's fairly local so they have the same weather as I do who say an 18oz with d-rings, no slits works just fine with no issues. the only thing that might happen is if the winds are strong enough it could snap the cable but that's about it. opinions??? my gut says no way but since I am not a banner manufacture, I may be totally wrong

With wind slits the banner will last longer no matter what size.

This discussion comes all the time & if it is not mesh it is better with wind slits to last longer, improper mounted banners a must, banners up high a must, banners where people can get hurt a must, or to stay up a long period of time a must.

Ok there will be plenty that say not needed but after 40 years & 30 years here in Florida with these new banner materials still use wind slits, ya don't need alot but every 3 to 4 feet be good, hole punch the 2 ends of half moon cut, try to miss lettering.

I have seen alot of banners without & those are the ones that have problems after several months.

Here in Orlando banners are not aloud over a month, Except if the city leaders like your business, like a church I know uses banners without wind slits & they have to replace them because a corner or 2 will rip mostly on bottom the wind just rolls it up, they last about 6 to 9 months, yes same copy.

The city puts up these 18" X 3 ft banners no wind slits, they are always tearing up if up a year, the short term ones last long enough.

The city puts up street banner here I see all the time normally no wind slits since it is up only weeks to a month & have seen it come down a few times or partial
& while it is up it looks like a sail, when wind slits are used the banner just sits better.

Wind slits are up to you, time, & rules
