Question Sublimation Pressing Some questions..

Hey Community, i hope and think anyone can help me.

The following:
I have an Epson Sure Color F500 with original ink and sublimation paper. I would like to print aluminum metal sheets. Which I have done. But I'm having some problems with it because I'm pretty new.
These are the metal sheets: https://signzworld.co.uk/shop/gloss...-for-heat-press-sublimation-thickness-1-14mm/

If I press it like on the link from signzworld with 185°C and 55 seconds the pictures become pale you can hardly recognize anything if I set Rigid in Photoshop.

If I then set Photoshop to Textile, the print is better, but still pale. Then I tried 200°C with 100 seconds and it seemed almost perfect.
But there I also selected Textile for Paper. If I choose Rigid it becomes rather greenish at the degree and seconds.

I'm happy with Textile now, but black isn't really black and there are dots everywhere. Like in the photo. Is it because of the printer that the images look dotted? This is most noticeable on dark areas. It is not the case with light or red areas. If I increase the heat or duration, which I have already tried, then water spots/streaks appear on the gloss. I really don't know what to do. Please help.

My question would be, how do I get a smooth print so that the dark areas are also smooth and not dotted? I have already done 2-3 print head cleanings.

So you are saying that you are using the Epson OEM inks, and trying to sublimate? If that's the case that will not work, you need sublimation ink, and the substrate that you are using are coated with a polyester to accept sublimation.

Hi, you might need to do more to account for moisture. I don't do a lot of metal printing but that looks like moisture. Sorry, you might need to do a search but you may need to pre-heat the media and then add some layers of kraft paper or nomex.

It’s all about your print!
I've seen this on some of my metal prints as well. This might not be your case but I had to clean mine with alcohol after sublimating and it went away. It's almost like the transfer paper and coating react funny.
I also use the this for moisture control
I press at 345F for longer times as this helps control expansion. You might need to adjust your time but it's all based on size.

Here is a quick guide with some times at the bottom but I would follow the chromalux low heat settings.
The starttosublimate website from chromalux is down and I count find their 345f settings.

Also some other good info on this thread
