Summa S2 TC160 and Onyx Thrive

We just inherited a Summa S2 TC160 and I am trying to figure out the best way to setup my workflow. Here's what we have going on.

(1) PC with Thrive driving (5) latex roll feed printers
(1) PC with Thrive driving (1) latex flatbed and (1) aqueous roll printer
(1) PC running only Onyx CutServer, connected to Summa S2 TC160 via USB. (although a tech told me to connect if via USB and Ethernet both at the same time). My understanding is that the camera is only functional via USB. This PC obviously has the Summa Cutter Control running on it.

My hope was that I could RIP and print files from the (2) PC's running Thrive and "forward" the Summa Cut files to the other PC (or network server folder) that has only CutServer running and have them show up in the cutting list in CutServer. Scanning barcodes to load cut jobs would be a bonus but not necessary.

This is an easy option in Thrive when using iCut as you can direct Thrive where to put the cut files.

Thanks! Appreciate any insights.

I neglected to mention that I also have the Full version of Flexi at my disposal as well, but I think Flexi doesn't play well with Onyx. I do know that I can print from Flexi but I prefer to keep the printing flowing through Onyx.

Thanks again

You can use third-party file sync software to copy your cut file folder over the network to another PC at regular intervals.

Yeah, have considered that option. We used to do that a long time ago when Onyx didn't let you specify where to write cut files for iCut.

Thanks for the reply!

You can output to another cutserver. So it's fine if you have multiple queyes running but only want one cutserver.

You can set multiple versions of cut server to send cut files to the same network folder (set cut to file in cut server). Then point barcode server at that one folder.

We run 2x pc with 2x onyx and 2x cutters and we share the same network folder for both cutters so we can put any job in either cutter and it will read barcodes and cut.

How do you output to a different CutServer. I haven't yet stumbled across that option.
CUT-Server Only Workstation
CUT-Server does not need to be installed on the same computer as RIP-Queue. It can be installed as a
standalone component. In this condition it does not need a hardware key. To do this, install the ONYX
software. When a popup message appears saying the key cannot be detected, check the box to install non-
key components. Launch CUT-Server and configure the cutter.

Jobs from other RIP-Queue workstations can be automatically pulled into the CUT-Server workstation. Go to
Preferences and then click on the side option, Jobs. Click Add. Browse across the network to the RIP-Queue
workstation. When the computer is selected, a list of shared folders will be shown. Select the folder that
begins with Onyx11Cutter (or Thrive11Cutter). Click Open and then close out of Preferences. Any cut jobs that
reside in the hot folder will populate into CUT-Server.
