suppliers are still charging a fuel surcharge?

Everyone charges. It's just that some hide it better than others.
Any trip we take from our shop to anywhere gets charged for and at a high amount. Unless, I can hit a place on my way to work or home from work, they get slapped with a hefty fee. Not to mention the cost of the person driving.

We have a job to do next week of doing 3 stores worth of installations in one day. They will be charged at one rate for at the store working and another rate while driving. There is no way I can pay an employee to be out driving around for a coupla hours and only charge for the actual work he/she performs. If we weren't out driving around, we'd be in the shop making money on someone else's project.

Nope, paying someone to deliver seems to be a way of business these days.

Understandable Gino, I am referring to not only paying a delivery charge, but an additional fuel surcharge when gas prices were at 1.40 per litre up here... they are now down below a dollar but that charge is still there, anywhere from $5 - $8.00 in some cases..... not right.

It's like taxes, only up, never down. This idea of surcharges and fees is just an attempt to diguise your prices.

Only ND Graphics charge us $5.00 fule surcharge as state above. And yes, does not matter how much you order. Other suppliers we do business with - its either $12-19 flat rate shipping (unless you order heavy stuff)
Or free shipping with orders over $500.00

I once called ND and asked why there is a fuel surcharge? The girl on the other line said she does not know... its just automatically there. I asked if Purolator does pick up all shipments from their warehouse? Answer was - YES.

So WTF do you charge me your fuel surcharge for? Just because of that, i am buying only 3M materials with ND, all other stuff goes to Express Sign/TG Graphics & couple smaller suppliers. Also contacted Grimco in Calgary and probably will be moving completely away from ND. Don't feel like paying for nothing, even if its only a $5.00 charge

Grimco has FREE shipping for over $50 purchase, however on my last order for 7 sheets (48x96) of Coro they charged me a $3 fuel sure charge.

So basically I paid $3 to have 7 sheets (48x96) of Coro delivered 70 miles to me, I think that is pretty fair. Not to mention the 3% discount for placing the order online.

Oracal orders come from Signwarhouse with a flat rate $6.99 shipping, orders placed by $4:00pm are delivered the next day.

they do here in Canada $11.85 std and $13.00 if it is a small order but the $11.85 is always on the bill no matter the size of the order

not here, i pay $23 shipping if the order is less than $200, if it's more it goes to $10.00 shipping, if it's over $1000 it's free shipping. no fuel surcharges here

Well duh. That's part of the work. But if I order 1 or 5 rolls the rolls are same price and there is no extra charge. I don't charge people design time on small orders either, I just break it out over the whole order.
