SwissQ Oryx?

We are looking to purchase a new flatbed printer. This would be our first flatbed and we are intrigued by SwissQ. Based on the sales literature, it states these are much less problematic than other flatbed printers as well as easier to operate. Also, the ability to upgrade the machine when you feel you need more production. I know the printers are more expensive that other flatbeds but I am curious if there are any owners here or anyone that gave a serious look before purchasing a flatbed? Also, at what dollar volume should you look at purchasing a flatbed? We are outsourcing about $500,000/yr on flatbed right now and feel we could double that with a flatbed in house. Any advice?

Check Inca Onset series, scalable architecture, various colour combinations, various automation options. Really good brand, good quality and solid position on the market.

The closest to the Swiss Q in quality is going to be the Jetrix KX6 from InkTech.

I demo'd one in Wisconsin, but ultimately we went with an Acuity F. Main reason being we already have an older model Acuity, so there was less learning curve. Seemed like a good machine, just more expensive.

The SwissQprint is a great machine but in my opinion it is too expensive-- especially for being your first machine. There are many fine machines out there with similar quality for much less.

If you're outsourcing $500k a year, almost anything you get is going to pay for itself within a year. The swissQprint is my dream printer and we're looking at an Impala 2 at the moment, so I've talked to several people who've run them. From everything I've heard, they're amazing. One guy told me he's had two service calls in six years.

Supposedly swissQprint is going to have a demo showroom opening up in Chicago sometime this year.

I was in the same boat once.

I didn't choose a printer purely on what i can and cannot do. Have to look at few things first.
- How reputable are the dealers/company in your location
- If something goes wrong, what's the response time ect.
- What do you get for the money you pay
- and last of all, how good is the printer, i.e quality.

I went to the biggest print expo they have in Australia which is Pacprint. You'll see a range of flat beds.
First thing i looked for is, Who's flat bed is actually running. There are many stands with their flat beds that are just on show. And some try and sell you their flat bed which is not even at the show (still in their show room)

That should really narrow your choices down. How?
- The company whos' printer is still at their show room can indicate that they have a small service team and only focus on selling as only the sales reps will be on stand.
- The company who has their printer on show but not operating can indicate similar to the guys who left it at their show room. Need to question why isn't it operating. why didn't they set it up. who's on their stand, most cases would still only be 1-2 sales reps.
- The company who has their printer on show and is fully operational. Now these guys took their time to actually show case their printer. They would have had their service team out setting up the machine, setting up the rip to show you their product.
Who's on their stand. There will be the sales reps, There's the software expert who can show you all the software that comes with the printer (RIP & printer software) You will have your business development specialist who will tell you what is possible to do with it, which who will usually be apart of the in house R&D team.
All your questions can be answered, you can build relationships with them. You know you can buy a printer and you've got that team behind their product.

If you buy a SwissQ and there's no one to stand behind the printer in your area, who is going to help you when something goes wrong.
