Switching from Gerber Edge LE to Edge 2

I have an Edge LE that still works (it does have some occasional quirks). A vendor of ours has an Edge 2 they want to sell, and they let me take it to see if it will work with my equipment. I have Windows 10 and Omega 6.0, and use the Gerber USB to serial cord for my Edge LE. Will that same cord work for the Edge 2? If so, when I install the Edge 2 would I need to put the cord in a different USB port? I don't want to uninstall the Edge LE just in case the Edge 2 doesn't work, but will if I need to. I just seem to have problems with setting it to the correct port when installing my Edge on a new computer.

it would certainly be advisable to usb a different port
windows recognizes devices by a combination of port & whatever sort of device id
am i confused? the edge's have serial & parallel port
parallel is MUCH faster. i imagine you have the usb to serial adapter because it was used with your PLOTTER

ALL my edge's run off ethernet to parallel print servers. to me, this is the only way to go

forgive the memory lapse. i have not printed with one of my edge's in almost 2 years, since my wife went in the hospital

He was probably wrong saying SERIAL. Edge does not have serial port.
And Yes, Edge 2 works with the Gerber USB-Printer Cable and Omega 6 on Win 10 or 11.

We own 3, but I haven’t printed on one in a couple years.
didn’t the “trunnion” have a serial port?

Yes, sorry, parallel port (got confused with my plotter, I was thinking they were all the same). I will make sure to plug it into a different USB port. Thanks!
