Take up reel from china for Roland printer...anygood ya think?

Been doing some research on a take reel for my Roland VS-540, found this one on ebay for about $294.00 plus shipping.Im wondering if anyone has bought one of them and had good luck with it?

The one you're looking at is interesting. I went with the one in this link and it does ok.

The one you show is NEW to me, I have the older style:

And it works great for me. I plug mine into a electric timer so it will turn off after printing, otherwise it will run all night.

FYI: The smaller units like Phototec showed won't do a full roll. They also will not allow for cutting.

I am not sure about the one you show, but it is probably the same. I bought one similar to Phototecs from Supply55. It has the same properties as Phototecs.

Yours is apparently 12V 35 watts. Not sure how you power yours at 12 volts...

The one you are looking at costs a lot to ship!

What would be the reason to go with this type of solution vs the HP takeup reel?
Just curious as I have a Z-series 60" without the takeup, and I'm looking in to getting one at some point.

We went for this because we wanted a second L260 but our dealer had an incredible deal on an L210 without the takeup reel and we decided it was more cost effective to buy the L210 and add an aftermarket take up reel. It seems to work just as good as the HP version but the difference was 3K dollars in the price of the printers.

I have this one.....haven't used it once. I'd probably sell it if you wanted to buy it....I just always camp my printer to make sure everything is ok (it's a control thing LOL) so I thought I'd use it all the time and I don't/

That eBay one is the same one they're selling for $399 at our local sign shop as a "Cascade Takeup System"

Seems it would work really well....the concept is the same no matter which one you go with. I just never have long enough print jobs that warrant using a takeup system so I've never used ours.

I have this one...every once in a while it starts rolling up in reverse and I have to shut it off really quick or I get dirt in my prints.
