The Addams Family

I have been approached by a local childrens hospital which we do work for to do graphics for a mini arena race car ... the kicker is they want the theme to be The Addams Family and i can't find a single thing that is worth printing.

They have written consent so that is not an issue ...

Anyone know where i could find some good artwork meeting that criteria ?

If they have permission, you should be able to get it from whoever owns "The Addams Family" name, right? You may be able to find the "logo" in vector somewhere, or find one that can be traced, but I doubt you will find any kind of pictures of them that would be big enough to print.

Maybe search the AF pinball graphics but I doubt the permission would extend to that anyway.

Keep in mind the COPY-WRITE issue. Without WRITTEN PERMISSION you are breaking the law using that artwork.

is it the original or the newer one? I did a quick bing.com image search and agree that you might be able to at leaset do a trace on the lettering. as far as anything else, it seems like the source for permission might be able to point you in the direction of art that is OK to use. best of luck and please post your stuff once you get going so we can see it.

A google image search found about 100,000 images for 'Charles Addams' and ~740,000 for 'Addams family'. There ought to be something in there you can file the serial numbers off of, so to speak.

As to the images, stick with the cartoon versions. DO NOT use photos of the actors.

In brief there was a suit against IGT (slot machines) brought by some of the Munsters characters.
Event though IGT had all the necessary licenses in place from Universal Studios for the theme
and graphics, etc. it was found (in court) that Universal could not grant rights to the images
of the characters in that instance as they failed to get permission from both the actors and
the Screen Actors Guild. Intellectual property law can be a maze of landmines at times.

I don't foresee a problem with charity use but please do be careful in your choices. Also,
the images you get, via downloading, the copyright in those images might held by a third party
unrelated to either the characters or the movie studio. I'd encourage the hospital to ask the
permission grantee for approved images or at least get a source location for "sure bet" images
that will not embarrass anyone at some point.
