I missed a deadline. A local school ordered yearbooks. I had to deliver 270 books this morning but only delivered 130. I cant say that it was no fault of mine! I am the owner. That sucks! I am so embarrassed.:bushmill::bushmill::banghead:
Sorry ...I just had to share that!

Get over it and get the rest of them to them by tomorrow.

Did you write up the order wrong or did someone miscount by over double ??

Things happen. You'll get judged much more by how you deal with the problem than the problem itself. Like Gino said....get to work.

My supplier gave me empty cartridges on my colour copier by mistake. Was a last minute order.Last night at 1:30 we ran out of toner and the machine shuts down. We put the new ones in ......realising they are empty!.Thank you for the encouragement. Will get it done!

oh man. been there done that. my supplier sent me 6 rolls of 180 instead of 180c. BIG difference. this was over labor day weekend.

had to wrap a huge motorhome for a client that had an event on monday that he litteraly paid 10k plus the motorhome for.

i got my a$$ chewed! luckily so did my supplier by me and they made it right on the weekend.

those situations suck! no matter what it always ends up being YOUR fault. that is the worst part.

i can give you a big list of things that have happened here(weekly) to cause jobs to go wrong or be late or short but like said above it's all how you deal with it and solve the problem. alot of times we can fix things before the customer knows what happened other times you have to make that call and suck it up and tell them what happened. hey if everything always went right everyone would want to do what we do.

ignore addie, he's just a broker. He has no idea how it's made.
And good luck getting the rest of them punched out!

Don't you hate it when you receive incomplete files, or files that were obviously assembled with poor instructions, because the broker who came to you was ignorant about your production methods?

He's trying to reach out and educate himself here. Give him a bloody break.

Addie, How exactly do you make them?

Yes . High end copier. How do you make them Addie? Draw by number?

I would have used either a digital press or a standard offset press. Just because, I no longer own and operate my own presses. Doesn't mean I don't know my way around the printing business. I choose to be a broker because, its a hell of a lot more profit with less overhead and headaches.

ok, as a printer, i feel addies question was totally legitimate...most year books ive ever had made was on a press not a copier. it can be done on a copier, in fact i make booklets all the time, but i dont make yearbooks on my copiers...

ps, i also think brokers are scum of the earth...

well, don't beat yourself up too badly! it happens but it sure is upsetting when it does so I feel your pain. when people have not come thru for me on time, what has made it seem better is to hear an apology. I have had those who just kind of fluff it off like it is no big deal and that ticks me off. knowing that it was a big deal to you might help smooth it over. good luck!

Addie,
You know it is too bad Fred doesn't pay per post; at the rate you post (mostly nonsense) you can retire in another year.

Let me know when you find a press who will make plates for 150 yearbooks.
Most minimums are around a thousand.

But i actually have no idea, i don't do that small format crap .
