The latex. Wanna know what it's about?

The matte finish of the ink is only noticeable without lam.

Ink adhesion is great. We've run a ton of banners (double sided too, even though they said you can't do it) with no problems.

I only have the big one, and it puts off a lot of heat. I can't speak for the 25500, but the 800 (along with three other printers in the room) heats up our print room when it's hot outside. We've had a few error messages over the summer about the machine not being able to cool down. Keep in mind this is a 50x20 room with fourteen foot ceilings and four printers, and it was only when it was 110* outside.

GAC: I haven't tried, but I would expect styrene wouldn't print well due to the heat. 020 styrene will usually warp with UV lamp heat, which is much less than that of the latex machines.

do you have to waste the first 3-4 of the media to web it?

also, we lam EVERYTHING with gloss. will the dullness of the latex even matter at that point?

and seriously, your married. god help her.
i could have sworn i saw you at the golden tamale last week dancing to village people.

nooooooooooo. You dont have to push it out 3-4 feet at ALL. only time where i had to do that was with banner, and that;s only if the edges are curling up.

Yes, i got married in May. You Jealous Holmes? I tried to go to golden Tamale last week, but you had the whole place rented out.. so tuff luck with that.

11. YES. the ink is much more durable then what comes off solvent printes.

I disagree with this one. We printed some PhotoTex a few weeks ago on the LX800. Had a fingerprint on it, so one of my installers *lightly* rubbed it with alcohol and it came right off. In the same office we have other PhotoTex murals that have been up for three years and still look brand new.

Other than that, thanks Adam!

You'll have to redo your infopost in a couple weeks when they announce the L26500..

We tested printer phototex on the latex and solvent and the rain had interfered with the ink outdoors on the latex test. The solvent was fine.

Followed the settings provided by phototex for drying and curing temps and it was fine off the printer. It didn't wash away all the ink only small portions of it. Still isn't acceptable if being used outdoors.

I need to start researching for my next printer when my hp9000 takes a poop. hopefully not for a long while. But I kinda wanna get latex because I am sick of the fumes. Not too happy about having to laminate everything. We only laminate long term outdoor signs without request.

And it sticks? We don't have heat assist so never tried it, but I wouldn't think it would stick..

Yeah, turn it all the way up. I dont use it much. Just got into it. I think from you recently suggesting it. Nice stuff.

I try to laminate everything that leaves my shop.... EVEN yard signs.

32. That plastic roll they give you to put into the media to make it have weight is dumb too, don't use that.
.

I know i didn't include everything. So please Add on.

Great post! But... I do disagree about the "dumb" plastic rolls! If you use the winder, the rolls are essential to get the media winding smoothly. At least it does for me... Or I'm a total idiot, because if I don't use it, the media generally mucks up!!!

Also, I rarely laminate prints, and never banners! I love the finish I get right off the printer.

My 2 cents worth.

How many friggin threads are we gonna have to endure about the latex printers? We get it. They print great and they are dirt cheap. Awesome. Are you guys getting kickbacks from HP or what?

Compared to an ecosol printer, how is the maintenance?

How long can the hp rest without printing before the troubles starts?

Hey Tim. Everytime i use that roll weight plastic thing.. it just gets in the way. Never had a problem with Roll up. I don't laminate banners, now that's just silly. As for other stuff... I'm just a quality whore. The extra 2-5 bucks doesn't hurt me. It also makes things easier to lay, and saves time in labor.

Someone forcing you to read these?

Jealous much??

This

What time of lam have you tried this with? I've just started playing with Phototex and have noticed how easily the ink is rubbed off after curing. (roland eco-sol max) I have some GBC thermal lam rolls lying around...I wonder if these would work?

Yeah, actually that might work, not sure.

Is now a good time to mention i just got another foot of snow this morning?
