Been hoping to land this big cleint for a while but thought i'd lost out. Had a lot working against me... because of the industry, the job was more suited to a cool, young, guy
strike! STRIKE!! & STRIKE!!!
and if 3 strikes weren't enough, when they asked me if i'd work from their office... i said no. how about two days a week... no. how about for meetings... thought i better at least say yes to something, even though their offices are an hour and a half away.
that was 3 or 4 weeks ago. yesterday i get an email asking if i'd could do some sign work for them... needed for an event next week! My first thought was, theses guys were starting off with unreal expectation and could turn out to be difficult clients. But I figured this might be my only chance to razzle dazzle them.... so i said yes.
i thought all they have to do is be slow to respond to emails and proofs or have a really crappy logo file, for this to go badly.... but to my surprise... they sent a super clean vector file and images of the kinds of signs they wanted.
i spent the better part of the day looking for vendors and getting quotes, in an effort to have a bid to them by the end of day. around 4pm i email them the quote and less than 45 mins. later it's emailed back signed approved, selecting the more expensive options.
i'm liking these guys more and more as the day goes on... they're super agreeable and decisive. no, can we tweak this or make that bigger... they just check things off "we'll take this one."
we exchange several rapid fire email throughout the day. everything is approved and ooops... i need to make one change. i send them an email that say:
Before I order the (such-n-such) graphic, can I get you to take a look at just one last adjustment. I think having a thick border ties in better with other signage.
What do you think... lemme hear ya say yeah!
not 10 minutes later i get this:
The only way it could be better than this is if Fireworks Shot out of the top!
I Like it! Go for it.
YEAH!
yep, i definitely could enjoy working with these guys.
this rush job feels kind of like a test... i sure hope i pass.
wish me luck!
