Hello , i'm looking at adding digital waterslide printing to our services and have come across this printer which has dedicated white. Has any other company got this machine, what is it like to use? I'm thinking of leasing, has other leased this one before?

I have a Uninet. IMO, just buy transfers from a wholesaler. The quality of my Uninet is "OK" but the learning curve and trying to figure the damn thing out is ridiculous. SOOOOOO much more efficient to just buy transfers. $7k and I gave up. My friend had a Uninet also and got rid of it also. She has an apparel shop, I have an apparel/sign shop. If you are doing one-offs then maybe but if you are doing 24+ orders then don't waste your time, IMO.

I've been looking into the Uninet 540. So you wouldn't recommend. I also buy screen printed transfers but these are mass produced. I'd like to add custom waterslides to our range where customers can order as little as one sheet

I guess I'm not sure what a waterslide is? If you buy a Uninet, the training is $800, you HAVE to take the training class in order to figure the thing out. I already paid $7k for the printer and figured since I use FLexi, Corel, Illustrator, an HP 315, I should be able to figure out a desktop printer! NOPE! The sheets are not cheap either, it was still like $4.75 a sheet because you have to use the high-quality ones.

So, by the time I pay for the sheet, do the design labor for one shirt, , print, order the shirt, press the shirt, print the invoice, etc. out money. You would really need a good business plan, templates, etc. to do one-off shirts unless your customers are willing to pay $50 for a tshirt.

Not to mention everyone wants to talk for 20 minutes about the weather or their design and how grandpas dog died and he's the pillar of the family and that's why they want Spots face on a shirt. I charge $100hr so that 20 minute talk and then another 30 minutes on the shirt and that's if there's no changes, I'm at one hour of labor $100 + $3.85shirt + $4.75 = $108.60. The customer will want to pay be $25. So if I make one shirt an hour I made $200 that day. Plus I have to pay $7k for the printer. It doesn't make sense for me, maybe it would for you - depends what kind of business plan you have.
