This font is horrible my brain hurts

Although I don't use CNN for news, I do enjoy some these artsy-fartsy articles but the font they use is driving me to drink. It's like my brain keeps stopping every millisecond, and then go, stop, go, stop. Is there something I'm missing about this font?

I can only see using this for a one or two word logo.

Well Johnny, it's like this.... You have two elements in the image/logo. One is on top and inserted to the other. The other is on the bottom and wrapped around.

Those are called Missionary fonts.

Similar to the Mutoh fonts I get when the K channel in the print head has started to fail.
