I have checked with what the font, with no luck.

I know its easy, but I can't seem to place it.

It would appear to me to be a moderately condensed Palatino Medium or Book Antiqua. The versions I have, however, have a slight curvature on the tops of the "P" and the "R" while your appear to be flat.

Search for Palatino Linotype, and you'll more than likely find different versions of it. The one I have is just like your pic except a little thicker.

I dont think that is simpler than GWB ( how could that BE?)..in fact I think it is a better typeface..RP for Pres..
