My title is Large Format Specialist.
What does a "Large Format Specialist" actually do? Grease the printer? Run the printer? Tell someone to print stuff? Sell prints? Just wondering what someone who doesn't think a "sign guy" can design stuff actually does. (and yes... I'm being a pain)

I always thought Hiroshige was an elegant font in a fun and legible way. The sans is similar to Optima, but a touch more swashy ...without being cliche like the typical fonts used for Asian food.

Hiroshinge is a nice font choice. Optima works OK too I suggested and since these will be channel letters, it will be cheaper to make a serif that is almost a sans-serif than a full on serif letter. by the way, where is the OP? what has he come up with for this?

Meh I'm with the dude above, should be handled by a branding firm. In any case you're asking a question that can't be answered without customer interviews, market and competitor research, proper brand design process...us throwing out some fonts isn't too helpful.

I'll repeat what i said. I never meant to downplay the guys ability. My point was, why is he designing a logo for someone wanting a sign unless he is charging, and should be, for logo development. The logo development should have occurred a long time ago in the business plan before getting to the point of contracting the actual sign. You're acting as if me saying "sign guy" was a derogatory term. Grow up.

I manage the entire department and this includes purchasing capitol assets, training employees, quoting, printing, finishing. I also do print & web design and I also am knowledgeable in web hosting environment set ups. I have a BA from FIU in Business Management. Would you like to see my resume or you just trying to be an ass?

Don't get your knickers in a twist. Did you miss the end of my post? (the grey bit?)

I'm just making sure you realize how inflammatory your statement was to more that just me. This is primarily a sign maker's site. There are one or two sign makers lurking about. Apparently, you were misunderstood.

Nice to see that you actually do something. :thumb:

I have to install Channel letters on a Japanese steak house. I am trying to think of a font that I should use.

the point was missed totally as the OP was asking for font suggestions, not a logo, just a font that would look good on a Japanese steak house. hardly a branding by a marketing company needed, just a damn font that doesn't suck. some times, life isn't all that complex.
