Are those the ones that have a black coating on the side?

I picked up a new utility blade and it had a black coating on on the sides of the blade (not on the actual sharpened area). It seemed to work better with foamcore and didn't grab the foam as much. I assumed it was some kind of teflon.

Sounds like he's talking about Titanium Nitride (TiN) coated blades. They're a glossy yellow-gold color. I've not used them in utility knife blades but everything else I've ever tried that uses TiN coated cutting surfaces has been MUCH better than the uncoated versions. A TiN coated utility knife blade should cut through things with less drag and less getting stuck.

I'll have to hunt these things down at the hardware store and try them out.
