Tool carraige slams into left of machine

I am hoping that someone can help with this problem, that i've never encounted before.
When switching on our soljet 540, the tool carriage slams into the left of the machine, with great force. I tried a limit position setup, but still the same, befroe I can complete. The obvious error is 0010, but thats caused by the force of the contact.
I am thinking a faulty motor. Anyone else have this problem

Check your encoder stip

I had changed the encoder strip, which I thought was the cause.
the tool carriage really slams into the side, so that may cause further damage.
this has baffled us here

Have you recently upgraded the Firmware? Sounds like the machine thinks it is bigger than it is.

after changing an encoder you have to do the limit initialization and calibrate you encoder. otherwise it's normal to get this result.

A week on, and still no joy. I cant do a limit initalization, as I get the problem during the the limit setup. I have taken this video to explain better.

I am now wondering if its a Mainboard problem

yes it does, things are pointing at servo board, unless someone can tell me otherwise C
