Toshibatec CE2 for Océ Arizona

I've heard that it's possible to buy a key which works only with one specific machine (one s/n) - but they were available only for owners.
Can you replace a CA4 head with a new CE4M head by splitting the CE4 head apart? I've never tried this, but a vendor says it's possible. I don't want to blow $600+ on a head and destroy it.

So tell the vendor that he should prepare the head and give you the warranty. I don't think such a head will provide the same quality as the original CA4.

I just ordered the same head from Digiprint but for my 460. We'll see how it goes. I don't have a service key but just connected a keyboard to access Windows registry editor to get a glimpse of what needs to be amended and whether I can manage myself or get a tech, depending on what Digiprint provides in terms of instructions (change SN, voltage, waveform, etc?). Is it possible to do scanner calibration without a service key? Any instructions on how to do this?

Tech came and did the installation, which was well worth it. We didn't need horizontal recalibration as the fit was already very tight, even with the vertical alignment we managed to guess correctly in the first go and it didn't need any further adjustments.

All-in-all, I feel like the 400-series and 550 have renewed value when you can get a printhead for <$600. All the other Canon/Oce models, at least on digiprint, are many thousands, which I'd think would be a dealbreaker if the machine were older.
