I was out yesterday and the guys tried to print some stuff... didn't work out so well.

The VP-540 suddenly has a constant not connected status in versaworks. Apparently they got a motor error at one point - not uncommon... they restarted the Roland and it was fine. They printed several more jobs and then it just quit printing. Literally. The job status bar in Versaworks went to 1% then the job disappeared from the print queue and the status in not connected. I have rerun a new cable - no luck. I double checked that the IP addresses match - they do.

Any help? I have 3 more banners for a golf tourney that I need out NOW... and tech support hasn't bothered to call back yet.

"Reinitialize" Versaworks and restart. Will need to have IP address to load in again, but should resolve the issue.

Reinstalling is not really necessary 99% times

I could be wrong, but I don't think the IP's have to match. I'm pretty sure they should be different. Also, try turning the printers main power switch off and reboot the computer. I'd start with the power first than the ip address but you have turn the printers main power off to make any changes.

Stacy has 3 NICs in her PC. I have advised her to simplify the network with a network switch. Cable router to Switch, Switch to Printer, Switch to PC. Set IP for Printer and PC to something like, 192.168.1.5 and 192.168.1.6 with netmask and gateway set to the same.

She is having other, bigger, issues that are being looked at now.

Okay - here's the scoop...

Several problems that hit all at once...

Problem #1 - NIC we use for Roland wasn't seeded inside well... so we reset that.
Problem #2 - second improperly seeded NIC going to the network prevented computer from booting up... this is fixed.
Problem #3 - can ping the roland, but can't communicate with it from that computer with a direct or switch connection.
Problem #4 - installed versaworks on other computer, but didn't have the correct subnet address. Fixed that.

Currently I have installed versaworks 2.2 on other computer, but can't update since I only have one card and have to run direct connection from roland to computer to make it work. This is a temporary fix until I get a new NIC card tonight. Tomorrow we will try to set up as Bobby has suggested with a new switch (just to make sure) and new NIC card.

A special shout out to Bobby - I meant it when I told you...

YOU. ARE. THE. MAN.

if not for you I would be totally screwed this afternoon. Thanks again so very, very much!! :loveya:
