Probably.
Most backlit signs feature translucent vinyl.
Unless you want it to look like crap.

alot of ford/nissan etc pylons have translucent chrome. dont know for sure how, my guess is backsprayed

edit: to the OP im fairly certain that that is translucent

Yes, and while you're at it a better design too
