Trying to print a "spot" from VW color chart

I can't seem to get the "solid" print I was getting the other day. I created a special colr and checked "convert..." but it's still printing grainy dots.

I tried checking spot color but it's still grainy. (Created "Specil spot color, even though it is a Roland VW color from Illy)

check your default profile.

Think I got it, took a couple tries..
Have to be using the VW profile, add the special color, check the "Convert..." box and select Density Control Only. Whew, that's not exactly intuitive though.
