we're a union shop, sheet metal and electrical workers'. fortunately we don't "jack-up" our prices, nor "lean on brooms" during projects
i can't vouch for all unions, however. I've seen it first-hand on job sites... Makes me mad when people abuse a system, when I'm not in on it

Bob had a great idea for this once, he invented "the Brotherhood of independant signwriters" feel free to become a member, if there anything about it being only from "approved " unions?

people like you just befuddle me. dont know history, have never been in a union, and make statements based on what they been told. sorta like the same naysayers who tell all the bad stuff about MASONS.......

They had their place in time, just like the 8 track. Neither are really needed anymore.

They were good for safety of workers, but they have outpriced the U.S. , nothing you can say can cange the FACT China is kicking our butts in manufacturing!!!!
Like I do installs of safety decals in a local plant, they have a union guy follow me and show me were these 4" decals go. He can't just do it
cause it isn't in his union job descript. So now the are paying me AND him to install little 4" decals. WASTE, this is why it cost too much to manufacture in the USA!

Watson's Signs had it right, invent your own union. Proudly display it. Nobody said you had to be AFL-CIO to be a union shop.

you guys befuddle me as the poor OP asked where to get something a customer needs and some only car about standing on their soap box, from either side of the issue of unions, which was no help at all. we have the NHB section to whine and cry about things, why clutter up the actual threads with junk like this? it makes it hard when you do a search for info 'cause you have to wade thru ten tons of crap to get to a valid post about the topic...

I'm going to talk with the guy tonight about it, and I might suggest that I am my own one member union. In the mean time I will gather a few quotes from union shops.
