Yeah because private companies sure are good at giving all employees things like benefits. Oh wait, I don't have any and I'm in a private company.
Thank FSM unions exist so we at least have regulated 8 hour weekdays with federally mandated overtime, weekends, and my kid isn't working in a factory at the age of 10 months.

there are so many state and local laws now days that affect work place safety and workers rights, unions are outdated and un-needed. unions were create back in the days when working conditions warranted such organizations to protect people. Now, its nothing but greed mongers. Out with unions. We do work for unions.... I'm not a fan.

you right china is not a union worker place. why do you think they can sell so cheap? what happens when the people in china industry get hurt? who tells them they cant breath the air in a factory without masks as it will kill them? chinese coal mines, most dangerous place in the world to work, next to Chilean copper mines. and if you remember those miners who got trapped underground.....HAD NO RESPIRATORS...ever hear of SILICOSIS???? my dad had it. got when he worked for our govt in the copper mines in Arizona during WW2. oh yea they had their place, so you say but you wont work the same wages the chinese work for either!! know why, cause unions wont let big business get away with paying low wages, not givin a svhit about worker safety or what happens to worked who get hurt on the job. this is what you really want? without unions, THAT IS WHAT IS COMING. back to pre-1930's when industry ran this nation and owned all the worked just as if they was slaves. and used em up the same way. when they couldnt produce they let go fend for themselfs.

yes what about osha, and the DOL? I think they pretty much have covered, what the unions were created for in the first place. at one point in time, there was a purpose and a need. That need has ceased, and it has since become a bastardized system of corruption and agendas. down with unions.

well......OSHA........was created from UNIONS... for workers safety. and without unions to ENFORCE OSHA, you have:

So.. basically, its overpriced labor here in the US, or, if i am a CEO, get 70% more profit and a better bottom line with Asian LAbor.. hmmm....
The sad part is, the Material and construction of products from there are STILL cheap. So, instead of moving the Margins down to 40-50 percent, by getting better design or construction, they STILL suck at it.
@old paint- the chinese have it worse than most countries. At least the Communist Bucket still cares about making sure PEOPLE ARE WORKING. can you say that here? NOPE.

I am not getting into the usefulness or uselessness of unions or OSHA who can come by my shop because one of my employees was Pi---ed off I let them go. I can tell you that if we had decent bosses who gave a rats a-- about their employees none of this is needed. As far as benefits go, if your company can afford them then they should give them. If they can't afford them, then should they offer them and go out of business for lack of cash flow. Really, common sense is needed here.
