US Tariffs, Sigh!

Did we get paid for taking in all the flights you guys grounded during 911, or for people opening up their houses to house all the stranded us citizens who couldn't get back into America?

We also don't charge when we send tankers down to help fight the fires in California. I believe we have a contract where we send some planes down during your wildfire season to use... But we also send aid and personnel down and go above the contract whenever there is a fire to help out.

I don't know about east coast, but I know theyve sent nurses and help to my when covid hit too... Not sure if we charged for that or not.

We send troops to fight in wars that have nothing to do with us, just to support America... But I'm sure that's part of a treaty. But even so... You don't see Canada starting any wars and asking us for help / troops, so that's kind of 1 sided.

Trump's doing tarrifs to get a better deal on trade, that's it. Less than .05% of fentanyl in USA is from Canada... More illegal immigrants enter into Canada from us than into us from Canada.... More illegal guns and drugs as well.

As for a trade deficit being bad... If you take out all the oil and gas we sell USA, it's pretty much even... But aside from that, whens the last time you went into a supermarket pissed off because they sell you more than they buy from you?

There's nothing wrong trying to get the best deal you can in a trade agreement, it's calling allies national security threats as a way to do it that's pretty shitty.

Can you imagine if Canada elected a new prime minister, and the first thing he did was say he's putting a 25% tarrif on USA because USA is a threat instead of an ally? I'm sure you guys would feel pretty disappointed as well.

But it "worked"... He "won", he got Trudeau to agree to spend 1.5 billion dollars to beef up security.... The same 1.5.billion dollars that was earmarked for border upgrades months before he even took office :roflmao:
Thank you Ikarasu for clearing out my point. I'm french-canadian so when it's time to argue with proper words instead of using "bad" ones, I already have 2 strikes against me. We can clearly see who he voted for. It's his right but I think we worked better with USA under previous presidents (whatever the party). When T said it was the worst trade settlement ever signed, he "forgot" he signed it in 2018 and claimed it was the best deal ever signed at that time. Talk 'bout a moron...

What bothers me is the French Canadians with their bigcars or trucks towing their mobile homes. Then when they stop at a rest area they get out with their overweight wives and clog up the food lines talking with their other buddies and fat wives from Canada. If it is so great in Canada, stay there and do not bother me.
Damn I'd like to be better in english to be able to see sarcasm from true statements (my brain tells me women are even fatter on the other side, they even fry their emotion and eat 'em with mayo)...

Again, that is not an accurate number, it's 250% after a certain quota has been hit, until that quota is reached there is no tariff on milk from usa into canada, also the quota is high enough that it has never even been close to being met.

I posted this video earlier in the thread, I highly reccomend anyone watch it who wants to see the actual facts on canada/us trade agreements and not what is in the clickbait headlines.

You didn't take the 10 minutes to watch the video did you...
"over-access committment" doesn't sound very free-trade-agreement'esque.
the video merely glances over the milk quota, but in true canadian-fashion....the guy seems pretty friendly and I would definitely purchase some wares from his maple syrup booth.

America has tarrifs on products as well. Every country does... Whether there's free trade or not, to protect interests.

You guys have thrown lumber on tarrifs quite a bit.... On aluminum / steel, I believe wheat... And even one point milk, but I don't know if the milk one was a threat or not.

Point is, every country protects their national interests. If we had no agricultural tarrifs, America would bombard Canada with so much product that our farmers would go out of business. Then when you guys come knocking about the 51st state, and we say no, and you cut off our food ... We're hooped.

Ya know, other than Geneva, all the stuff the rest of you are saying is what you heard from some unknown source, through the grapevine or are just making up. Just my opinion, but just go over the crap most of you copied and pasted into this thread. Hardly a single owned thought anywhere.

Any examples?

I hear this over and over again from the right leaning people, and when proof gets posted it just gets ignored. Find one thing I said that is just a rumor, or heck, I'll even give you just a half truth.

it's not funny, when your heavily armed neighbour starts making vague threats to your sovereignty, you need to take it seriously.
yeah, i'm sure there's people out there that feel the same way when they get invited to a party.
...but noted: never threaten a Canadian with a good time.

For those who need proof, just consider me stubborn and set in my ways. For those who don't give a rat's a$$, get real. Ya really think I'm gonna go back and regurgitate all the crap everyone is writing ??

If ya don't like what's happening, get another line of work or shut up. These minuscule rants aren't gonna solve a single thing, except just separate everyone even further on this forum.

Its as easy as clicking my name and you'll see every post I've made in this thread, takes 5 seconds.

You guys love to spout nonsense and accuse others of doing what you're literally doing in your sentence. I personally don't care if you believe me or not, but it's very hippocritical the way you're acting. You talk about posting random nonsense or stuff you've heard with no evidence to back it up... Then go and do the same thing.

All it takes is 5 minutes to read my posts, find something I said that'd not true, or a rumor.. if you do, it'll shut me up and you'll never have to see me post in here. That'll save a lot more time than it'll take you to find something, no?

But you won't. Just like geneva... Ask for evidence, get it posted, then completely shut up about the topic and move onto some other nonsensical topic.

So keep spouting you're nonsense, throw around accusations without a single shred of proof or evidence to back it up... If it's good enough for your president, I guess it's good enough for you.

sooo lets just generalize to cast shade on "right leaning people", and then slink away when asked to provide receipts?
howwww Liberal of you.
Receipts? I'll gladly provide any sort of evidence or information to back up what I posted. I'm generalizing a few people on this thread, not Republicans as a whole. If you read through the whole thing you'll see evidence gets posted time and time again, and they don't even bother to refute it or call it fake news.... Just spread their baseless lies about the left and then when proven wrong, double down to something else.
