USB issues...probably for Techman....

USBs ARE functioning....
mouse...keyboard....Sentinal key are all o.k.....
plug and play thumb drive and external hard drive are read
but am getting Explorer dialog box...
drive:\ is not accessible Access is denied.
Everything in Device Manager is o.k......
I've disabled and enable, reboot, system restore, disabled/enabled USB in BIOS...everything imaginable.
I don't think it's an overcurrent issue because I'm seeing the device.
And damned if my boss knows where the Windows disk is to repair
any corruption issues.

I've rebooted into Safe Mode....

and I can access the drive. So it's a Windows driver issue.
Being that I don't the Windows disk handy I thought I'd access
start/run/sfc and access the I386 folder.
You're supposed to be able to cancel out of the screen were your asked to insert the disk and then search the I386 folder but my dialog box doesn't offer "ok" or "cancel".
Am I rambling??

I think it wants to look first,, then it will give you the dialog you are lkooking for..

geez...

I've never heard of an issue between USB and antivirus or firewall.
It's affecting my plug and play.
Although not my mouse or other USBs.
Just thumb, external hard drive and digital cam flash.
This blows.

I've deciphered that for some reason....

my plug and play devices that I've listed have become right protected.
Both thumb drive and external hard drive open on other computers.

I've gone into the registry to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.
The value 'WriteProtect' should be absent or set to '0'.

StorageDevicePolicies is not listed in my registry.

Do you have a high-speed USB adapter? Belkin and Keyspan both have them. I would shut the firewall off on your computer while running your vinyl program. I fought it for months before I found a tech man that told me to shut off my firewall. WOW! It cured my problems instantly. May or may not help you, but it's worth a shot.

but that's not the problem. I'm not trying to cut vinyl
