USPS Regional Rate Shipping - Discontinued?

James Burke

Being a grandpa is more fun than working
Ok...so I rudely found out this morning that the USPS has discontinued the regional rate "C" size shipping boxes, and nowhere on their web portal can I find the options for using the regional rate "A" and "B" size boxes either.

I've gotten a plethora of emails lately concerning other miscellaneous changes to their web portal, but no indication of rate hikes that went into effect on Jan. 17...or the discontinuation of the RR C size boxes.

Does anybody have the inside skinny on what's up with the other sizes? Our local post office personnel advised me to use a third party like stamps(dot)com, but for all that hassle, I'm seriously considering UPS or FedEx.

Also, it looks like all commercial based mail has increased:

The USPS is only required to notify people of a price change on stamps, all other items are changed at their prerogative
this change occurred over the weekend, we were told that even stamps.com will be discontinuing the pricing for regional boxes

even switching over to the other carriers are a hassle as FedEx has already had a 5% increase this year and that's with fuel prices being at an all time low.
not sure the price increase that UPS has had

another thing to be aware of is international shipping went up a lot too. I used to ship small packages to Canada for $6.xx they are now $9.xx for the same package that's a huge increase.
