Everyday when I do a test print the yellow does not print properly and only after a few cleans does it start to print ok. Why is this happening?

When did you change the cappers last time? If the rubber is deteriorated it'll not provide airtight sealing and will cause the ink to dry out.

Yes the cap tops could just be worn out and you need new ones. They are considered consumables and should be changed once per year and, as they are some of the cheaper parts on the machine, there is really no reason not to change them yearly. Also, your dampers are the same. They should be changed yearly. If they are failing they would cause a similar issue.
