Valuejet 1624 smearing

Our Mutoh 1624 has recently started smearing.
Tried some of the profiles which have working well in the past but no luck.
Here is what it looks like:

Any ideas as to what the problem/remedy might be?
- Note that the the red outline is part of the design; not head mis-alignment.
Although that is not to say that the alignment is perfect.

--It seems the higher the quality setting, the more the smearing.

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Could be a bad spot on the media. Try wiping with IPA then reprint.
Could be static from low humidity.
Could be fuzz collected around the head.

My Vj-1624 started doing the same, try everything, and little by little it got worse and worse. Same channel the cyan. Was not fixed until I replaced the printhead.

What you can try for now is to print in large dots if that fixed it, you can make a profile in flexi with large dots, it will not print clean gradients like when using variables dot, but it will stop the smearing.

Try everything but it might be time to change the head, it seem intimidating but is not that hard, what is hard is the hit to the wallet.
