Versacamm cutting strip issue

Just wondering if the cutting strip would cause the plotting knife to cut into the release liner. It does it only here and there. I have the blade deep as shallow as possible(almost to shallow-sometimes it is hard to weed) I was thinking that the strip may have some spots that are not warn and that is causing the vinyl to make harder pressure to the blade causing a deeper cut-would this make sense?

is it always the same distance from the edge of the vinyl that cuts into the liner? if so, it's probably a good chance it's the cut strip.

The cut strip may cause an irregular pressure along the media. Although if you cut through the liner the cutting pressure may be too high.
