Versacamm printing on cast vinyl

hi, ive had a versacamm for about 12 months and used it with good results, on banner, canvas, photo paper and vinyl. upto now ive been using a bog standard Cartongraf 80, but ive just tried Rijet 50 but cant get it to print.

im using versaworks but for some reason it comes out almost blotchy, a bit like a newspaper print rather than the sharp printing ive been getting on the Carton graf. if i swap back it prints perfect again.

any help would be appreciated, im pulling my hair out now and my customers getting on my case.

a) profile ?
b) contamination ?

Can you post a picture?

Ive tried all the profiles within versa works and it makes little or no differance.

In in this picture is 2 black panels. 1 on cast vinyl. 1 on the other.

How old is the vinyl? Sounds like plasticiser-migration...
Roland now has profiles available for non-roland media...check their website...

Try a new cast vinyl.... that looks horrible.

Also, for what it is worth, change your sheet cut blade. This will lessen the stress on your scan motor as well as reduce the amount of paper dust created and pulled towards the print head area.

I think I'd be talking to Ritrama about that and see what they say. At the very least, try and get another vinyl to try so you've got something to compare.

I've been trying to get a profile from ritrama but so far no joy, checked on the Roland website but they don't do anything for the printer, vinyl, ink combination
