I'm new to cutting and just received a Roland Stika SV-15. I did some practice cuts using cursive letters in Illustrator, but the vinyl seemed to be getting hooked and pulled up by the cutter in certain areas of the font. What's the problem? Is the vinyl of a poor quality? Is the blade at the wrong level, perhaps a little too deep? Is it Illustrators fault because there are too many nodes in the vector? Or is this normal for very small and sharp curves in cursive lettering? What do you more experienced people do when this problem occurs?
Honestly everything about the cut is basically fine. Even though the edges of the sharpest curves get pulled up it doesn't ruin the whole thing because they are fairly miniscule. But I did notice that these pulled up bits are being crumpled and torn. The letters I was printing are about 2 inches tall in Brush Script font and only a few curves are being pulled, not all of them. The rest of the vinyl weeded just fine. I'd really like it if this didn't happen since I want to do very precise and detailed work.
Thanks for any suggestions.
