Vinyl Colors?

My customer wants to make another banner....great!

They love the violet vinyl that was used on their previous banner
back in 2007 and want the same shade. I now have the capability
to cut the vinyl and make the banner inhouse....
BUT what vinyl do I order???

Problem #1 - the shop I used to make that banner is now
out of business. So, I know the vinyl color is "violet"....
but don't know which viny manufacturer was used.
My sample sheet from this shop says Neschen 5100 series
Pro-Gloss. Are the named vinyl colors the same shade (or close)
from one manufacturer to the next???
Or should I try and find a supplier that stocks Neschen vinyls?

Problem #2 - they want a PMS color number for the violet
so they can order t-shirts that match! No big problem really
as I have a PMS swatchbook....just need to get the vinyl here
in order to match it to the swatches.

Nope, vinyl suppliers have all different shades, some are close, some are not, you will need to match the violet to a Pantone Colour, and then order it from any supplier.

Or order the same vinyl as before.

Oracal has a violet. Tell them you need the old banner to match, simple. Be honest with them, it is the best policy, tell them you don't have a record of the exact color used.

I believe Neschen is out of business.Give Universal Products a call.I think they took over Neschen. I think I have a Neschen color chart. PM me and I will try to find the Violet color in question. Also Oracal is good about giving a PMS color to go with their swatches.

Thanks Jamey! From my swatch book and the Neschen color
sample chart I have from the out of business shop, the violet looks
like Pantone 2617C is a very close match.

What I need is a readily available vinyl from Oracle, 3M, Avery, etc.
that comes closest to that in color. If someone with a swatchbook
could compare their "violet" or "purple" vinyl samples...
and see what is closest, I can take it from there.

I just got an e-mail from my customer telling me that they lost the first banner
so they can't bring it in for color matching.
Sooooo, one of my worries over the two banners matching is eliminated!

I'll just check out the FDC plum and give them the PMS color for their t-shirts.

Good thing that they don't need this until Jan. 15th.
