Vinyl Rippling

So far the band-aid fix is always printing in unidirection. And then it print pretty clear. Tech seems to think its not the ripples and its the head going back and forth thats messing up the first 5 inches and last 5 inches of vinyl.

Which dealer are you working with?
The vacuum settings can be turned from auto to 100% to force the machine to use maximum pressure to see if that helps.
I never use the extra rollers in the center unless cutting through a material or laminate that requires over 200 lbs of force for cutting.

Right now the tech has the settings at 100% for vac.

Is anyone's cut strip this recessed into the platen? I feel as if it should be flush to the surface.

So I got all the middle ripples out does seem to lift a little on left and right of any size material put in printer. On 54 inch I can print 42 inch center on media and it will print perfect no matter what settings. If I print 52 5 inches on left and 5 inches on right will print blurry and fills won’t be filled in nice. If I print unidirectional it will print almost perfect all the way across.

Here is a close up of some things we printed. The clear one is in center of media and the other one is on left or right side of media.

This kind of shows it traces out where it is printing blurry

Then my print/cut is all messed up. The right square for adjusting and left square or complete opposite to the middle square when trying to adjust them.

The scale is off. Either there is a number entered in and there shouldnt be, or there isnt a number entered in and you need one.
The calibrations in the cut config need ran, and the encoder needs calibrated.

I had the encoder do it’s thing in service mode to measure everything out. Tried messing with the calibration for cutting and the middle square is always opposite from the left and right square.

I was having this same issue and found that if you let the vinyl heat up with the pinch rollers down then raise them, flatten out the tunnels in the vinyl and lower them back down it runs fine. It seems like it's the initial heating that causes the issue and if you don't unclamp the rollers it gets worse as you go.

End pinch rollers are right. Tried to do preheat to 30 or 35 and post heat to 45 or 50 and it helps a little. Still wants to bunch up by outer pinch rollers. Tried turning head speed down to 760 and that also helped some. Still bunches though. Tried all pinch rollers no difference. Also tried 40c. Ij180cv3. Same results. Any other ideas? Rep is trying to work with me over phone but can’t figure it out yet.

We have tried that. Had roland out here yesterday and they are trying to figure out the cause. Something with feeding and the left and right side of material wants to raise a little and thats where its printing blurry. Hopefully should have an answer tomorrow.

The outside pinch rollers might have been installed backwards. They are tapered like a laminator roll and designed to push the media out to the edges, or pull it tight. All the middle rollers are flat...

Just a guess.

That was one of the first things they checked. Wish it was that easy of a fix. Should have a new printer at shop this week or early next. They are swapping with another new one.
