VJ 1304 shake down cruise

So, anyone else have to do this?
(yes, that is a camera tripod, aluminum stock & some Velcro holding up those carts.)

First order for my brand new VJ 1304.
3,200 square feet to print and no 220ml cyan carts on island other than the one the printer shipped with.
Its late Thursday, coming up on a 3 day holiday weekend.
Earliest air drop for the missing ink is due in 2 days before the install deadline.
Enough 440ml carts on island to keep me printing through the weekend.
Emailed Mutoh tech support - got an answer in under 10 minutes - might work - not recommended.

Its Monday evening here and I am about an hour away from finishing the last of the prints with ink to spare....

First go at running an eco-solvent printer and the largest single print run I have done. I got some good help here with some of the basics and overall it went pretty well.
I think I am going to like this printer once the ink supply issues get ironed out.

I was told you cant mix 440 amd 220ml carts!
You are obviously proving me wrong.
My 1604 can take 440s wthout proping them.
The 1304 must be a different machine.

48 and 54 inch machines are designed for 220ml carts, not 440s...

derf prints with 440's all day long. we dont only because there is no cost saving advantage. but from what i have seen, its not a problem as long as you dont slam the printer into them in the back.

Yes, they fit, kind of....
But like Stealth Ryder says, the machine is not designed for 440s.
They make it easy to do serious damage to the cartridge slots, card reader, sensors, etc...
Also they dont support the carts all that well and can leave extra ink in the carts and cause the empty tab to pop out prematurely.

It was not something I wanted to do but living in the middle of the Pacific ocean you run into supply situations like this alot.
The 220 carts showed up yesterday afternoon - install for all the banners and window posters is set for tomorrow morning. If I had waited on the carts there would not have been enough time to get the finishing done.

I will go back to 220's to keep things simple even though it is 10% cheaper to buy a single 440 over two 220s here. Guess the extra 10% on the smaller carts covers the second juice box that ends up in the trash.
