VJ 1324x pink hue glow around black

We have a 1324x. 5 years. We have replaced head, maint. Station, cables to head. Aligned printhead. When printing we are getting a pink hue around black, like a offset or drop shadow. And darker colors not just solid black.

Looks like the head slant is out of whack. Did you do the head slant adjustment where it prints black and magenta lines that you can line up using the lever on the right side of the head carriage?

It looks like you're missing the adjustment lever. There should be a black plastic lever where your screwdriver is pointing. I'm not 100% sure if turning that screw will do it but that's normally where the lever is. Usually you don't have to loosen anything. You just push or pull the lever until the printed pattern is correct.

In response to your email about taking the head out and cleaning around it because it doesnt adjust. We just had the head replaced. The odd thing is, it prints registration marks fine. See picture attached.

I assume this is because the RIP prints those marks using only black ink, so there's nothing to misregister.

the text is black ink only, 100%K, I did try 60/40/40/100 also still the same

If you made a file in Illustrator or Corel and labeled it as 100% black, the RIP will still add the other colors in according to the color profile. You would need to specifically adjust the profile and it's settings to print a true 100% black. Saturn could still be right. The registration mark is a built in color that only uses black and does not get adjusted by the color profile.

I think the setting is called "pure hue" in Onyx, and maybe something similar in Flexi. It forces the RIP to keep anything that's set to 100% CMYK values, without mixing in additional colors. In most cases it's best to leave that off, and let the RIP do it's thing.

Unless you know about it, it can be frustrating when the it looks like the RIP isn't keeping your small black text a single channel. But like we mentioned, any RIP generated elements are often 100%, so that's why it can be funky to figure out what's going on when they're printed right next to each other.

My issue was a head slant. After installing a new head we had to adjust the head slant. It is printing great now. Thank you solventinkjet for pointing us in the right direction.
