Did the technician manage to find out what's wrong with the printer?

He thinks it is the main board. Actually the servo board, but it is part of the main board.

$2100 was his memory of the price.

Oh and the heater problem fixed itself today...

And the test pattern error changed again.

What was the final results of your repairs?

Well, first we had a problem with one of the carriage cable that connects the main board with the head board (It broke somewhere in the middle of the cable, causing intermitent electrical contact).
Second time was an improper electrical contact in a connector.

I would start with replacing the head cables. They are cheap, and usually the cause of the type of issues you're having. I doubt very much that the servo board is the issue, as that board has little to do with the actual printing. The servo board controls the motors and sensors.
