vs-540i says cart #8 is empty. I dont use MT so a cleaning cart has been in for several yrs and always worked fine. Any thoughts??

Are you changing the chips? We had a VS-540 years ago with white and metallic and I believe that is what we did with the cartridges, as we rarely used those 2 colors. If it's the same cartridge and it isn't empty, then it could be a sensor issue.
